POINTS UPDATE: Speedweek Championship Multiplies Bergman’s Lead

Stay up to date with the chase for the 2024 American Sprint Car Series National Tour championship.

LATEST RACES: Texarkana 67 Speedway (June 11), Creek County Speedway (June 13), Arrowhead Speedway (June 14), Tri-State Speedway (June 15)

CURRENT POINTS LEADER: With two wins, four podium finishes, a 1.5 average finish and a Speedweek championship, last week couldn’t have gone much better for Seth Bergman. His lead over the competition is more than three times larger than it was one week ago as a result, going from 57 points entering the week to his current 172-point margin.

MOVERS

Matt Covington (+3): Three-consecutive top fives to open Speedweek helped Covington rebound from a DNF in his previous outing at Dodge City Raceway Park. The No. 95 car looked to be on its way to extending the streak to four at Tri-State until he was collected in Hank Davis and Jason Martin’s crash, but Covington still recovered to finish seventh and prevent Andrew Deal from taking away second in the standings.

Jason Martin (-3): The No. 36 was fast enough all week to contend for wins, but issue after issue prevented Martin from finishing at the front. He suffered a locked-up rear end in the Feature at Texarkana, was collected in Sam Hafertepe Jr.’s crash at Arrowhead, and then crashed while racing for the lead at Tri-State for another DNF. With those, he fell to fifth in the National Tour standings.

Kyler Johnson (+1): The Kansas native entered Speedweek in a tie with Landon Britt for sixth in the standings. While mechanical gremlins at Texarkana prevented him from starting the Feature, finishes of 10th, 11th and eighth the rest of the week elevated him into sole possession of sixth.

Landon Britt (-1): Britt’s week was bookended by a disappointing 19th-place run at Texarkana and a crash at Tri-State that left him 20th on the night. His best finish of the week was a 10th at Arrowhead, the site of his lone Series win. The No. 10 team will look to move up from seventh at Batesville this weekend, one of the closest tracks on tour to Britt’s Memphis home.
