POINTS UPDATE: Mallett, Hafertepe Jr. Use Strong Runs to Gain Ground on Bergman

Stay up to date with the chase for the 2024 American Sprint Car Series National Tour championship.

LATEST RACES: Batesville Motor Speedway (June 22)

CURRENT POINTS LEADER: While a sixth-place run at Batesville was Seth Bergman’s worst finish since Dodge City Raceway Park three weeks ago, he still maintains a healthy 159-point cushion over Matt Covington in second place.

MOVERS

Sam Hafertepe Jr. (+1): Hafertepe’s night may have ended on a sour note after he was passed for the win on the final lap by Jordon Mallett, but the runner up effort was still enough to leave Batesville 41 points closer to Bergman than he was when he arrived. The No. 15H car also overtook the No. 15D of Andrew Deal in the process to edge ahead in the battle of the No. 15 machines.

Andrew Deal (-1): Mechanical woes brought an early end to Deal’s night 16 laps into the Feature and relegated him to the 18th spot in the finishing order. With both of his closest rivals in the standings in Hafertepe and Covington finishing on the podium, the DNF dropped him one spot to fourth in the standings.

Jordon Mallett (+4): Mallett’s triumph at Batesville vaulted him up to sixth in the standings in a sandwich between Kyler Johnson and Landon Britt, with all three drivers separated by just two points. The fill-in pilot has been playing catch-up ever since his stint at Brandon Anderson Motorsports began at Rush County Speedway, as Mallett finished 20th at Super Bee Speedway in his own equipment and did not attend the second stop of the year at Red Dirt Raceway.

Terry Easum (-1): The driver of the No. 88 machine is one of just four different winners with the National Tour in 2024, but Easum has struggled to replicate that Red Dirt performance in the weeks since. Batesville brought a marginal improvement, as his 13th-place effort was his best run since the win, but he still dropped one spot to ninth in the order.
