Inside Line Promotions – HIGHLANDS, Texas (Oct. 2, 2018) – Channin Tankersley plans to return to action this Friday and Saturday at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark., during the 31st annual COMP Cams Short Track Nationals with the ASCS Mid-South Region.

“I’m honestly just hoping for a smooth weekend,” he said. “We’ve started strong at the Short Track Nationals during previous years only to be caught up in a crash. There’s a lot of great competition there and it’s a small track so there’s bound to be some crashes. I just hope we can make it through this year’s event without being involved in any.”

The Old School Racing driver has had some success during the marquee event, including a strong run in 2013 that included a 15th-place preliminary night outing. Tankersley then finished fourth in a B Main to transfer into the main event.

“I think that was the biggest field they had on record, too,” he said. “We were running inside the top 10 until we were involved in a wreck. We had the potential to run in the top five. That was one of those weekends when everything clicked and was heading in the right direction until the crash. We’ve had some other pretty good runs.

“Any time you’re at a big race everyone is fast. You have to have a little luck. If you have your stuff together and everything is clicking that is what you strive for. If you have that package you can somewhat put yourself in the right position.”

Tankersley has finished in the top 10 during all 11 360ci winged sprint car starts this season entering the Short Track Nationals.
