SAPULPA, Okla. (September 29, 2016) The Hockett/McMillin Memorial was a roller-coaster ride of sorts for Blake Hahn, but the ride ended on a high note as the Lucas Oil / JR1 No. 52 finished out Saturday night with a seventh place finish with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network.

“Overall we were happy with the weekend. We had a rough start, but finally got the car rolling on Saturday night,” commented Hahn who began the three day affair with a flip on Thursday night.

“We avoided what seemed like six crashes and finally got caught up in one and that ended up putting a stop to our night. It sucked because we really had the car rolling”

With the damage primarily cosmetic, Blake returned to action on Friday but was not able to dig his way out.

“I drew the pole in the Heat, but ended up getting beat by Randy Martin so that put us deep in a Qualifier and just couldn’t move forward. Luckily, we won the B-Main, but the car still wasn’t right. It was unpredictable from corner to corner and what we ended up finding was our left rear shock was slowly going bad and during the feature, it finally gave up.”

Double checking the car going into Saturday, things finally turned around for the Lucas Oil Products No. 52 team.

“We went over the car and checked everything we could think of to make sure we were on point for Saturday and it was great. The car was perfect all night, we just had to come from the back in every race. In the feature, I could pretty much run wherever I needed too but with the field of cars, plus having to rebuild the car after Thursday, to get out with a seventh place finish is pretty good. I just can’t thank my Dad, Dalton, my Grandparents, and everyone who jumped in and help us get back rolling enough.”

Looking ahead, Hahn will be in competition this Saturday, October 1 at Nebraska’s I-80 Speedway for the Casey’s General Stores Fall Brawl with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series. The event will be co-santioned with the Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Series and offers up a $6,000 winner’s check.

“I-80 is a tough track. You have to be smooth but at the same time, you can get away with driving it like a short track. The track is a nice combination.”
