The American Sprint Car Series National Tour will make its second stop in Iowa this year for the Battle of the Blue Ribbon at Clay County Fair Speedway on Tuesday, Sept. 10.

It’ll be the Series’ third visit to the 3/8-mile dirt track, which has produced three different winners in those three visits.

Terry McCarl left with the victory last year after leading all 25 laps. The year prior belonged to three-time ASCS National Tour champion Tim Crawley and Matt Covington won the Series’ debut at the track in 2021.

Covington, of Glenpool, OK, has an average finish of 2.3 with the American Sprint Car Series at the track with finishes of first, fourth and second. He’ll enter the event with the momentum of a strong showing during the 360 Knoxville Nationals and an eagerness to score his first Series win of the season.

With 19 races to go this season, the championship battle is under 100 points between Seth Bergman, of Snohomish, WA, and Sam Hafertepe Jr., of Sunnyvale, TX. And for both drivers, the visit to Clay County will be their first. Hafertepe currently leads the season’s win count with seven, but Bergman is still ahead in top fives (10) and top 10s (12).
