Topping a stacked field of 33 competitors on Saturday night’s Greg Hodnett Memorial at Riverside International Speedway, Mississippi’ Dale Howard was the man on top when all was said and done with the ASCS Hurricane Area Super Sprints.
Howard’s first win on the season with the series, his win marks the second time he’s won the Greg Hodnett Memorial.
Chasing the lead for 22 laps, the caution would set the stage for Howard to grab the lead as a mistake by race long leader, Bradley Fezard saw the No. 938 tag the wall in the third and fourth turns, allowing the No. 47 of Howard to slip to the point.
Holding to the white flag, the run to the checkered was slowed as Howard worked off the final turn. Having to regroup as the field reset for a green, white, checkered shooting, there was no denying Howard the night’s $2,700 check, plus lap money and other bonuses.
Fezard cross second, with Friday night winner, Derek Hagar moving up six spots to finish third. Cody Gardner was fourth, with Jordon Mallett rolling from11th to complete the top five.
The ASCS Hurricane Area Super Sprints race again on Saturday, August 8 at Jackson Motor Speedway.
