Christopher Townsend Storms To First ASCS Hurricane Area Super Sprints Victory

Adding his name to the list of drivers who have triumphed in ASCS competition, Christopher Townsend rolled the Estes Family Racing No. 71 into Victory Lane Saturday night at Baton Rouge Raceway with the ASCS Hurricane Area Super Sprints.

Starting his pursuit from fifth, the 18-year-old shoe was quick to put himself in contention, with the pass for the lead coming on Lap 7. Overtaking Jan Howard for the point, Townsend was able to put distance to the tune of 3.645-seconds at the drop of the checkered flag.

Howard, who had slipped to third, regained the runner-up position, with Jason Breeland advancing seven spots to finish third. Brandon Blenden and Blake Carrier completed the top-five.

The ASCS Hurricane Area Super Sprints race again on Saturday, April 19 at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, AR.
