Williamson Ready to Take on Stout Field at West Texas Crude Nationals

Inside Line Promotions – COLUMBIA, Mo. (May 6, 2020) – It’s been a pretty boring last two months for Bryant Paver Motorsports driver Garet Williamson.

The Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour rookie has been sitting idle because of the COVID-19 pandemic. As days, weeks and then a month clicked by, Williamson was waiting for any indication when his season was going to resume.

The announcement recently came in the form of the West Texas Crude Nationals, which will be held next Tuesday and Wednesday at West Texas Raceway in Lubbock, Texas. Williamson got the last invitation to compete Monday night.

“I’m dying to get back to racing,” he said. “It’s been so boring. We’ve been working in the shop and doing whatever we could to keep ourselves busy and hoping there is a race in sight so we have something to look forward to.

“There for a while, there was nothing on the schedule. Nothing looked good. It was terrible. At least there is something on the schedule again. The worst part was not knowing if it would be next week, next month or if we were going to race at all this year. There is only so much you can do at the shop.”

This will be one of the most difficult fields Williamson has faced in his young sprint car career. It’s littered with 360ci sprint car talent and a host of 410ci sprint car heavy hitters.

Kerry Madsen, Aaron Reutzel, Terry McCarl, Joey Saldana, Cory Eliason, Dominic Scelzi and Giovanni Scelzi are 410 standouts scheduled to attend. Four-time defending Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour champion Sam Hafertepe Jr., Roger Crockett, Robbie Price, Seth Bergman, John Carney II, Scott Bogucki and many others from the 360 ranks are also slated to compete.

“We just want to get the rust off and get back into the swing of racing,” Williamson said. “We just feel like we had another winter break. We just want to get back to the track, get in a routine of an every-week deal, make good laps, learn and get better for next week.

“You do what you know best and don’t worry about who is there. It’s just another race. You have to run your own race and try not to worry about anything else. It’s about getting more laps and getting back to racing.”
