Inside Line Promotions – BELGRADE, Mont. (July 10, 2018) – Harli White earned her career-best Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com feature finish last Friday during the opening round of the Grizzly Nationals at Gallatin Speedway.

White won a heat race from the pole position to garner enough points to make the feature redraw. She pulled the No. 2 during the random redraw to line up on the outside of the front row for the A Main.

“I got to start up front in a heat race, which helps a ton,” she said. “Then we drew a good number for the main event. We were really fast all night long. We had the fastest lap in the A Main. I was capable of winning the race, but I didn’t find the rubber soon enough.”

The track took rubber only a few laps into the feature and a couple of other drivers maneuvered by White in the preferred lane before she was able to get into it. She then spent most of the rest of the race battling for one of the four lock-in positions into Saturday’s main event.

White caught a fortunate break with only a handful of laps remaining when two drivers in front of her brought out a caution because of a flat tire. It moved White to second place, which is where she finished.

“We went with a hard tire,” she said. “That worked in our favor because I think we could have gone another five laps. I’m happy with a second-place finish. With the way our year has been going a second is like a win.”

The career-best runner-up result locked White into Saturday’s feature redraw. She pulled the No. 3 to start the A Main on the inside of the second row.

“I was quickest in the lock-in hot laps so we felt really good,” she said. “They reworked the track before the A Main. We thought it’d rubber up like it did the previous night. It didn’t and we made the wrong tire choice. From the start of the green flag I was on top of the track. My right rear wasn’t digging. Whenever the rubber came, which was with three laps to go, we were really good. It just was too late.”

White held on for an eighth-place finish.

She is scheduled to return to ASCS National Tour competition on Wednesday at Gillette Thunder Speedway in Gillette, Wyo. It will mark her debut at the track.

White will then join the ASCS Frontier Region on Saturday at Big Sky Speedway in Billings, Mont., before returning to ASCS National Tour action on Monday at Brown County Speedway in Aberdeen, S.D.
