With weather models showing thunderstorms set to bring two or more inches of rain per hour to the Worthington, MN area on Thursday, American Sprint Car Series and Worthington Speedway officials have agreed to cancel the first night of the Rock on Trucks Gopher State 360 Sprint Car Challenge.
The decision was made keeping the safety of traveling fans and teams in mind. The event will not be made up.
All attention now shifts to the Gopher State 360 Sprint Car Challenge at Viking Speedway in Alexandria, MN, on Saturday, Aug. 1, where weather models indicate warm temperatures and sunny skies.
The Series’ most recent winner Sam Hafertepe Jr. leads the championship chase into the weekend with a 20-point advantage over Matt Covington.
