TULSA, Okla. (July 5, 2016) The American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Red River Region presented by Smiley’s Racing Products will get three chances at action this weekend with the 2016 Sooner Sweep.
Taking place Thursday, July 7 through Saturday, July 9, three Oklahoma ovals will play host to the Red River Region, starting with the Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla. for another round of Thursday Night Thunder at the quick quarter-mile with Driven Midwest NOW600 Outlaw Micros and Non-Wing Champ Sprints making up the card. The Thursday night spectacular is the final chance for fans to see the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Red River Region presented by Smiley’s Racing Products in action around the Tulsa area. Friday, July 8 will see the season’s only trip to the Outlaw Motor Speedway in Wainwright, Okla. The three-eighths mile oval located just south of Muskogee on Hwy 69 will also see IMCA Modifieds, Sport Mods, Stock, Cars, and Pure Stocks in action. Thursday’s action will be proceeded by a Car Show and Meet and Greet at the American Bank of Oklahoma in Muskogee on Chandler from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. (CDT). The final leg of the three night swing will turn attention south to the Lawton Speedway in Lawton, Okla. on Saturday, July 9. The final Oklahoma stop for the 2016 for the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Red River Region presented by Smiley’s Racing Products, the Region’s last visit on May 21 saw a hair raising battle between Wayne Johnson and Blake Hahn with Johnson taking the win in the closing laps. All three night’s offer teams a $2,000 to win, $300 to start A-Feature event with all nights getting underway at 8:00 P.M. (CDT).
Going into the trio of races, Tennessee’s Brandon Hanks continues to lead the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Red River Region presented by Smiley’s Racing Products with a commanding 173 point advantage over Kade Morton. Holding third is Fred Mattox with Jake Greider and Chance Morton completing the top-five in tour standings. Mickey Walker, Charles McManus, Blake Hahn, Forrest Sutherland, and John Carey II complete the top-ten.
In 10 nights of racing this season, eight different drivers have made it to Victory Lane with Sam Hafertepe, Jr. and Wayne Johnson the only repeat winners at a pair each. Blake Hahn, Brandon Hanks, Seth Bergman, Aaron Reutzel, John Carney II, and Kyle Bellm have each scored a single win on the year. Hanks and Bellm are first time regional winners in 2016.
The rejoining of the ASCS Sooner and Lone Star Regions, the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Red River Region presented by Smiley’s Racing Products enters its second season of action across Oklahoma and Texas with events going out as far as Kansas and Missouri.
