Inside Line Promotions – GERMANTOWN, Tenn. (April 3, 2017) – Sammy Swindell will return to Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track for the first time in more than a dozen years this weekend during the Tony Stewart presents the Texas Sprint Car Nationals with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.

Swindell, who will drive for A.G. Rains during the two-day event on Friday and Saturday, last competed at the track located in Fort Worth, Texas, in 2004 when he charged from 23rd to 11th during a World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series race.

“It’s been a while, but I thought it was a nice race track,” he said. “It’s laid out pretty nice and has a good size to it where you carry some speed there.”

Swindell visited the oval four times – all with the World of Outlaws – between 2001 and 2004 with his career-best result of fifth place coming in 2003.

This weekend will mark his first 360ci winged sprint car show at the half-mile track.

“I think we stand a good chance,” he said. “We found a few things that were giving us some problems the first race of the season and we still had a pretty good run there. We’ve got most of that sorted out. I think we’ll be plenty quick there.”

Swindell and Rains recorded a seventh-place finish during their most recent race with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour last month at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas.
