Sprint Car Racing Returns To Atomic Motor Raceway With 2016 ASCS Frontier Season Finale

TULSA, Okla. (September 20, 2016) The final two rounds of competition for the Brodix ASCS Frontier Region 2016 championship chase have arrived as the series will debut at the Atomic Motor Raceway in Atomic City, Idaho on Friday, September 23 and Saturday, September 24.

A former stop for the ASCS Rocky Mountain Region, the Idaho oval last welcomed ASCS Regional competition on July 10-11, 2009 with Montana’s Brent Kronfuss and Jeremy McCune earning A-Feature victories.

Since then, Sprint Cars have only been featured three other times. Joe Ramaker picked up a victory in May 30, 2010 with the former Big Sky Sprint Tour. Two nights on July 2-3, 2011 were split by David Hoiness and Phil Dietz.

Despite the 91 point advantage going into the weekend double header, Canada’s Skylar Gee is within sticking distance for D.J. Brink to steal away the 2016 crown. In the series last outing at Gallatin Speedway on September 9, it was Brink who topped the night’s action for his first triumph of the 2016 season.

Hoping to repeat his 2009 success and add his second career ASCS victory, Jeremy McCune holds third in tour standings but by only eight points over David Hoiness and a mere 31 from his son, Damon McCune.

Looking to break into the top-five this weekend is Trever Kirkland who is 61 points away from Damon. Ben Holmberg, Shad Peterson, Kelly Miller, and Nate Maxwell complete the top-ten in tour standings.

Included in the weekend lineup is Micros, Stock Cars, and Modifieds. Gates open at Noon both days with racing at 6:00 P.M. (MDT). Admission is $20 for adults. Kids 7-12 are $10 and kids six and under are free into the grandstands.
