Inside Line Promotions – FORT WORTH, Texas (April 12, 2017) – Travis Rilat opened the Tony Stewart presents the Texas Sprint Car Nationals doubleheader last weekend at the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track with an 11th-place result.
Rilat charged from eighth to third place during a heat race to start Night 1 of the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour event. He then picked up a position to place fourth in a qualifier, which locked him into the 11th starting position in the main event.
“It was definitely a tricky track,” he said. “We made some progress into the top 10 and then lost a couple of spots. We bounced around from eighth or ninth to 10th or 11th most of the race. I was just lacking a little to be able to move forward.”
Rilat ended with an 11th-place finish to narrowly miss his fifth top 10 of the season.
The event concluded on Saturday, when Rilat finished seventh in a heat race before maneuvering from ninth to sixth place in a qualifier. That relegated him to a B Main.
“We started fourth and ran there for the first few laps,” he said. “We got up to third, which was the final transfer, but on a restart I was passed and we weren’t able to get another position.”
Rilat finished fourth to miss transferring into the main event by only one position.
He is scheduled to return to action this Friday and Saturday at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, for the Texas Outlaw Nationals with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.
Rilat charged from 18th to ninth at the half-mile oval last month to extend his streak of at least one top-10 finish per year at the track to 13 consecutive seasons.
