RANDY’S FIVE: Electric City Speedway

Randy's picks for Electric City

Curious which drivers you should keep an eye on at each American Sprint Car Series event? Series Announcer Randy Ward will bring you his five drivers to watch each race week.

This week: Montana Roundup at Electric City Speedway, Aug. 29-30

RANDY’S FIVE:

Kory Wermling
Why: The Great Falls, Montana driver has an opportunity to impress a big audience at home track. Wermling has won four times at Electric City Speedway already this season. Can he do it with the ASCS National Tour in town? Christian Kinnison has put  Wermling in his No. 00 car for the weekend.

Ian Myers
Why: He is another driver from Great Falls who has had this weekend circled as one to look forward to. Myers missed the ASCS National tour stop in his hometown last season due to a prior commitment, so this year will be his first national appearance with the National Tour on his home track. Myers climbed into fifth in the Frontier Region points after last weekend’s races at Big Sky Speedway.

Rich Bailey
Why: He has already won a pair of ASCS races at Electric City Speedway this year, those were both Frontier Region races in June and July. The veteran driver has his set-up dialed in for the Great Falls track and he hopes it pays off big with the national competition in town.

Kyler Johnson
Why: He has been steadily turning in solid performances recently and is fifth in the national points. He has had a strong run the last couple of weekends with two top fives and a total of four top 10s in the last four races. The Quinter, KS driver has paired up with his brother Khane as his crew chief and it seems to be paying off. Now the pair look for their first top 10 results in Great Falls after Kyler finished outside the 10 in both races here last year.

Matt Covington
Why: He earned two top fives in last season’s two races in Great Falls, so he knows how to get around the bullring pretty good. Matt will rely on those notes from last year to get off to a good start this weekend and he hopes to fine tune that into a pair of podium finishes and even possibly a win or two. Covington is third in national points with Jason Martin closing in on him and Blake Hahn just ahead. Those three drivers are all chasing Sam Hafertepe Jr. at the top of the Series standings.

You can follow these drivers and more this weekend at Electric City Speedway by getting your tickets in advance by clicking here, or at the gate.
