RANDY’S FIVE: Belleville High Banks

Randy's picks for Belleville High Banks

Curious which drivers you should keep an eye on at each American Sprint Car Series National Tour event? Series Announcer Randy Ward will bring you his five drivers to watch each race week.

This week: The Big One at Belleville High Banks on Thursday-Friday, July 3-4

RANDY’S FIVE:

Jason Martin
Why: Jason is no stranger to Belleville Victory Lane. He’s been there on a prelim night during the Belleville 305 Nationals and been in the winners circle during a Malvern Bank 360 event. Jason just climbed back into the top five in the Series standings, and he knows this could be a weekend where he gains more ground on the guys in front of him to continue his climb back to the top – a place he ended up in 2023, hoisting the Series championship that year.

Matt Covington
Why: A winner this season on a big, fast track in Paducah, KY, Matt Covington has to have some confidence returning to a big, fast track like Belleville. In fact, this is one of the fastest tracks the Series will compete on all season long. Covington enters the weekend third in the points chase, so he would love to use his expertise at the high speed to keep pace in the title battle.

Sam Hafertepe Jr.
Why: Multiple times a winner already in 2025, Sam Hafertepe Jr. has to be a favorite again. He leads in the points standings in pursuit of a record sixth Series championship. On a track as big and fast as Belleville, qualifying may be a huge factor on how things turn out, and Sam is one of the best on the tour when it comes to qualifying.

Stuart Snyder
Why: Of the non-ASCS regulars to be on site this weekend, Stu Snyder may be the one everyone points to as the favorite to challenge for the checkered flag. Snyder is the two-time defending Malvern Bank 360 champ, he’s the Beatrice Speedway champ in a 305 from 2024, and he is a former I-80 Speedway champion. Snyder will go for his first even ASCS National win this weekend.

Zach Daum
Why: Zach Daum and crew have made the drive over from Indianapolis where they competed in the BC39 USAC Midget event this week. Daum raced from the B-Feature to top-five finish in finale on Thursday night. Now, Zach returns to the big car, he’s had limited starts in the Winged Sprint Car in 2025, but that won’t keep him from pushing it to the limits trying to get in ASCS Victory Lane. He is a fan favorite at Belleville, so watch for the No. 5 to put on a show.

You can follow these drivers and more this weekend at Belleville High Banks, by getting your tickets at the gate.

If you can’t make it to the track, you can watch every lap live – with Randy Ward – on DIRTVision.

UP NEXT: Lakeside Speedway on Friday, July 11, and 81 Speedway on Saturday, July 12.
