Price Wraps Up Washington Success With Top-Five Finish at Skagit

Inside Line Promotions – ALGER, Wash. (July 8, 2019) – Robbie Price enjoyed a rare off-weekend from Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour competition to celebrate the Independence Day holiday with family.

However, he didn’t stay away from the race track as the team decided to return to Skagit Speedway last Saturday for the Les Schwab Midseason Championship.

With the top eight cars in Skagit Speedway owners points already locked into a scramble, Price was forced to qualify with the rest of the non-points cars for his starting position in the feature. He set fast time among the non-locked-in drivers with a time of 11.756 seconds, placing him ninth on the starting grid for the feature.

With multiple divisions of cars running the speedway throughout the night, Price struggled in the feature with a track that proved tough to pass on. He made some early moves to advance to the fifth position, but as a result of only one caution occurring there was limited opportunity to advance. He ended his march forward with a solid fifth-place showing.

“The format proved a little tough for us as we obviously had to qualify ourselves in while other guys were already locked in,” he said. “But we showed some speed setting fast time and were able to pass a few cars on the start to get a top five.

“Given the circumstances and how the track took shape during the night, I’m pretty happy with fifth.”

Hoping to build on a successful Washington swing with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour that also saw the Cobble Hill, British Columbia, native claim his first-ever victory with the series at Skagit Speedway and a top 10 at Grays Harbor Raceway, Price and his team are heading to Montana for the Grizzly Nationals this Friday and Saturday at Gallatin Speedway in Belgrade.

“I’ve never raced in Montana, but I’ve heard a lot of good things about the facilities and racers,” he said. “I’m excited to get out there and see where we stack up. I think we got a little momentum coming in.”

Price enters the event ranked seventh in the ASCS National Tour’s championship standings.
