Price Records Top 10 During Battle at Big Sky Speedway

Inside Line Promotions – BILLINGS, Mont. (July 23, 2019) – Robbie Price wrapped up his first-ever trip to the state of Montana with a top 10 to cap two nights of racing with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour last weekend at Big Sky Speedway.

Price made his debut at the oval on Friday when he began the night’s program by lining up in the fifth starting position in a heat race. He advanced one position to secure a fourth-place finish. As a result of being among the top-16 drivers based on passing points in the heats, Price secured the 15th starting position in the feature.

“I got bottled up in the heat race and I cost us a few spots out there,” he said. “We didn’t really capitalize on things like we needed to and that’s kind of disappointing.”

Starting deep in the field and with the feature event only having one caution on the opening circuit, Price struggled to make up ground as he grinded forward two positions to bring home a 13th-place finish.

For the young Cobble Hill, B.C native, the night was a change of pace as not only was he driving the car, but he was performing the mechanic duties as well.

“I really didn’t drive at a very quick pace in the feature, but I was a bit out of my element all night with doing two things,” he said. “I tried to just be smooth, take my time and see if I could pick a few guys off. By the time I figured things out it was too late to really make moves. But I learned a lot.”

The weekend concluded on Saturday when Price drew the third starting position in his heat race and advanced one spot to finish second. It lined him up eighth for the A Main. With the race again only having one caution, Price struggled with the car and held on for a 10th-place finish. It marked his ninth top 10 of the season.

“The second night was a lot better for us and we ran a really great heat race,” he said. “It just took me a while to get going in the feature and I just have to get better at adapting and learning earlier in the night.”

Next up on the schedule will be a return to Skagit Speedway in Alger, Wash., this Friday and Saturday for the Bob’s Burger and Brew Summer Nationals. The finale pays the winner $10,000.

Price picked up a $15,000 win last month at the speedway during the Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup to become the youngest winner ever of the prestigious event. He’s looking forward to using that experience to contend for another great payday.

“I’m very comfortable at Skagit and the last time we were there we qualified for the A Main all three nights and obviously got a big win,” he said. “It’s a little different format then we are used to, but if we can qualify well and get ourselves into the redraw, I’m confident we can contend and have a shot at visiting Victory Lane again.”
