LATEST RACES: Electric City Speedway (Aug. 30-31)

CURRENT POINTS LEADER: What was a healthy advantage in the standings for Seth Bergman entering the weekend was smashed when the No. 23 car left the race on a tow hook Saturday night. Meanwhile, Sam Hafertepe Jr.’s time at Electric City was the textbook definition of a good points weekend, as his pair of second-place finishes allowed him to capitalize on Bergman’s trouble and cut the 103-point gap before Friday’s program to just 40 markers with 14 races to go in the season.

MOVERS

Hank Davis (+1): As if winning his first two National Tour races on back-to-back nights wasn’t reason enough to celebrate, Davis’s dream weekend vaulted him over Andrew Deal, into the lead of the Rookie of the Year chase and fourth in the overall tally.

Andrew Deal (-1): Deal’s weekend got off to a solid start on Friday when he finished third in the Dash and sixth in the Feature, but things took a turn for the worse come Saturday. His No. 15D machine suffered chassis damage in a Heat Race crash, forcing the team to sit out the remainder of the night and causing them to fall one spot to fifth in points.

Jason Martin (+2): The reigning Series champion has been climbing the standings ever since missing the Batesville Motor Speedway event due to injury, and he made major inroads in that process over the weekend. His pair of fifth-place runs moved him up two spots into sixth and within six points of the top five.

Landon Britt (-1): Britt’s first trip to Great Falls got off to a forgettable start on Friday when he finished 18th in the main event. One night later, he drove up to ninth after making a trip to the work area to change a flat tire. As a result, the No. 10 team dropped one spot to seventh.

Zach Blurton (-1): Blurton entered the weekend looking for his third podium in as many weeks, but it was not in the cards. Finishes of 17th on Friday and sixth on Saturday sent the Quinter, KS driver down to eighth in the standings leaving Montana.
