Inside Line Promotions – LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Oct. 8, 2019) – Channin Tankersley captured the Hard Charger Award for passing the most cars during the opening round of the 32nd annual COMP Cams Short Track Nationals presented by Hoosier Tires last Friday.

The Old School Racing competitor kicked off the ASCS Mid-South Region event at I-30 Speedway by winning a heat race. A sixth-place outing in a qualifier relegated him to a B Main. Tankersley gained a position in the consolation race to grab the third-and-final transfer spot into the back of the main event. He then rallied from 19th to 13th in the A Main.

“The track was rubbered up so there wasn’t much passing,” he said. “We got a bunch of cars right at the start. Once people singled out it was more difficult to pass so we took what we could get.”

The six cars passed were the most to garner the Hard Charger Award.

Tankersley wrapped up the event on Saturday. He advanced from fourth to third place in a heat race before registering runner-up results in a qualifier and a B Main to lock into the main event.

“It was a positive night overall as we finished with another top 15,” he said. “We would have liked to charge through the field, but passing was at a premium all weekend. To finish in the top 15 both nights when there are 60-plus drivers competing is an accomplishment.”

Tankersley was credited with a 15th-place result on Saturday.

The team’s next race is to be determined.
