Bryan Hulbert – WHEATLAND, Mo. (May 6, 2023) Claiming his second victory of the season in just as many outings, Oklahoma’s Matt Covington added his name to the list of winners in the 12th annual Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps Open Wheel Showdown at Lucas Oil Speedway.
Win No. 6 with the ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Warps; the win is also his eighth with the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region presented by Smiley’s Racing Products.
Besting a field of 30, the No. 95 grabbed the lead at the start and never relinquished the position. Chance Morton crossed second, with Roger Crockett climbing eighth to third. Chase Porter and 14th-starting Brandon Anderson completed the top five. Randy Martin was sixth, followed by Jace Park, with Gunner Ramey in tow. From 17th, Sean McClelland made it to ninth, with Steven Russell tenth from 16th.
The ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Warps rolls back to green this coming weekend with the National Tour of the American Sprint Car Series at Electric City Speedway on Friday and Moberly Motorsports Park on Saturday. American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region presented by Smiley’s Racing Products, is with the National Tour at Longdale Speedway on Friday, May 19, and Saturday, May 20.
The 2023 season will mark the 32nd year of competition for the American Sprint Car Series. Spearheaded by the American Sprint Car Series National Tour, the ASCS Nation includes Regional Tours that encompass both wing and non-wing competition.
