Lucas Oil ASCS Returns to its Home State

Tulsa, OK (April 22, 2012) – The last time the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by MAVTV competed in Oklahoma was 2008. Even longer than that was the last time the Lucas Oil ASCS presented by MAVTV raced the Salina Highbanks in just outside Pryor, Oklahoma.

In what could be easily classified as a homecoming for the Lucas Oil ASCS presented by MAVTV, the single night affair on Friday April 27th will be the first time since July 17, 2001 that the Lucas Oil ASCS presented by MAVTV has graced the Salina Highbanks; a race that saw Oklahoma’s own Wayne Johnson victorious.

This Friday night’s event will mark round eight in the 2012 hunt for the Lucas Oil ASCS National Title and the 78th held in the “Sooner State”. Of the 77 dates that have seen competition in Oklahoma since 1993, twenty-seven drivers have visited victory lane at eleven tracks.

Standing atop the list of winners in Oklahoma is Gary Wright who has visited Victory lane twenty-seven times with a pair of those wins coming at the Salina Highbanks in 1999 and 2000. With 127 national tour triumphs to his credit, Oklahoma accounts for just over twenty-one percent of Wright’s national tour victories.

Jason Johnson currently sits runner up to “The Texan” with ten wins at six Oklahoma ovals. To date Johnson has yet to visit victory lane at the Salina Highbanks with the Lucas Oil ASCS presented by MAVTV.

Rounding out the podium of winners is Oklahoma’s own Wayne Johnson who has claimed five victories at four tracks; a pair of which came at the Salina Highbanks 2001.

Other drivers that have multiple wins in the state of Oklahoma include Darren Stewart and Tim Crawley with four. Kevin Ramey has a trio of wins while Paul White and Shane Stewart each have a pair of wins.
