TULSA, Okla. (July 5, 2016) Continuing to grow events across the United States, the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network will see their 2016 stop at the Black Hills Speedway in Rapid City, S.D. expand from a one night affair, to a two night showdown with the creation of the “Rushmore Rumble” on Friday, July 22 and Saturday, July 23.

Originally, the Black Hills Speedway stop was to be paired with the Gillette Thunder Speedway in Gillette, Wy. however, with the National Rodeo scheduled to be in Gillette the same night as the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour; Ed Kirchoff, who promotes both facilities, made the call to move his date at Gillette Thunder Speedway to Rapid City, S.D.

With the move, Kirchoff hopes to create not just a great race for the fans of the Black Hills Speedway, but to create an event. With the two nights of racing now at a single facility, the goal is to make the event bigger and better for racers as well as fans.

In preparation for the Sprint Car spectacular, several capital improvements are on track to be wrapped up at the Black Hills Speedway before the “Rushmore Rumble”, including areas for R.V. Parking and dry camping.

Black Hills Speedway has seen the Lucas Oil ASCS presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network on three occasions. Daryn Pittman won the inaugural visit on August 8, 1998. It wasn’t until 2014 that Brad Loyet notched his name as the second winner on July 18. On July 14, 2015, Johnny Herrera became the third winner at the South Dakota oval. This year’s event will again be co-sanctioned with the Brodix ASCS Frontier Region.

Friday, July 22 and Saturday, July 23 will both open at 5:30 P.M. with races getting underway at 7:05 P.M. (MDT).
