The American Sprint Car Series (ASCS) returns to Arkansas this weekend with its newest full-time championship chaser and native of the “Natural State,” Jordon Mallett.

The 32-year-old from Greenbrier, AR, previously took on the entire national schedule in 2019, 2020 and a third time in 2023, which produced a best-career finish of third in the championship points standings. After spending the 2024 season away, Mallett is ready to get back on the road and chase his first national championship as one of the many owner/drivers in the field, continuing this Saturday, June 7, at Texarkana 67 Speedway in Texarkana, AR.

“My wife and I own everything, and I’ve been very fortunate to keep a bunch of my family involved and helping me along the way,” he said. “The drive is that I get to travel with my wife and my daughter and my family. If I can make a living like that, who wouldn’t want to? It’s a lot of work and a lot more pressure being owner and operator, but it’s a lot more rewarding at the same time because I can call my own shots.”

Mallett has captured two Feature wins with the national 360 Sprint Car circuit in his career, first breaking through at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, AR, in 2021, and again in his home state last year at Batesville Motor Speedway, where the Series returns on June 21.

Before switching to the ASCS circuit, Mallett celebrated back-to-back United Sprint Car Series championships in 2017 and 2018 and 15 Feature wins with the regional tour. He’s already an accomplished driver, but Mallett wants more. More experience, more challenges, and above all — more wins.

“I’ve always said your tuition in these things is seat time,” Mallett said. “I look back at all of our accomplishments thus far, and I really feel like we’re in a better place — equipment-wise, mind-wise — than what I’ve ever been. And experience-wise. I still feel young, my mind’s still young, but it’s funny that you look back and think, ‘I have a whole lot more experience than a lot of people.’”

Currently, Mallett sits sixth in the Series points standings, 117 points behind leader Sam Hafertepe Jr., with three top-five finishes in the four events he’s appeared in. Though he’s not where he wants to be yet with his performances, Mallett is confident and determined to get his championship chase back on track.

“I don’t come here to not run on the podium and compete for wins,” Mallett said. “I’ve got the cars, and I’ve got the equipment, just gotta fine-tune it to get us where I want to be. Once I get comfortable, I feel like we’ll be back to where we were.

“We’ve got the equipment. We intend to win races and compete, or we wouldn’t be doing this deal. I’m not one of those ones that shows up and hopes to make the show. I have expectations that we’re inside the top five every night. If we’re not, then either I didn’t do my job, or I let the team down one way or another. I carry high expectations, and we have high capabilities of meeting those expectations.”

Mallett and the rest of the American Sprint Car Series field continue the 2025 season at Texarkana 67 Speedway in Texarkana, AR, on Saturday, June 7.
