Howard Moore Has Strong Start to ’23 ASCS Slate

Mother Nature finally allowed the stars and cars of the American Sprint Car Series (ASCS) to open their 2023 season on Thursday night at Jackson Motor Speedway (Byram, Miss.).

He began his outing at the 1/4-mile oval with the fifth-fastest time in his qualifying group before recording a fifth-place finish in his heat race.

Storming from the 12th-starting spot in the feature, Howard crossed the finish line fourth in the FloRacing 30-lap feature behind Jason Martin, Seth Bergman, and Landon Britt.

While Friday’s scheduled program at Texarkana 67 Speedway was nixed by rain, the series resumed competition on Saturday evening at Boothill Speedway (Greenwood, La.).

Howard qualified third fastest and finished second in his heat race, which pinned him seventh on the starting grid for the 30-lap, main event. For the second time in as many nights he advanced to a fourth-place finish behind Jason Martin, Landon Britt, and Seth Bergman.

With the opening weekend in the books Howard currently sits atop the latest ASCS Rookie of the Year standings and is fourth in the overall points.
