Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (Aug. 8, 2017) – A promising start to the 27th annual 360 Knoxville Nationals presented by Great Southern Bank came to a grinding halt in a vicious, multi-car crash for Alex Hill.

Hill started 23rd in Thursday night’s A Main after qualifying 28th quickest out of 43 drivers and finishing third in her heat race to kick off the preliminary night at Knoxville Raceway. However, chaos unfolded seconds after the race began as a number of cars in front of her made contact, eventually resulting in several cars – including Hill’s – flipping on the frontstretch.

“Everything happened so fast – there wasn’t much I could do,” she said. “I’m just glad everyone was all right.”

Hill’s night began with a better result in time trials than the previous week, which was a step in the right direction at the tricky track.

“Time trials went pretty good,” she said. “I wish I would have stayed in the low groove on the second lap. I think I would have had a faster lap.”

Hill did return to the track in a different car on Saturday to run the C Main during the event finale.

“We were good in hot laps,” she said. “But the car wasn’t very good in the race. It was loose in the low groove and tight if I went to the top. I was dropping back and I eventually pulled in with about four laps to go. I was out of tearoffs and I figured it was better to keep the car in one piece.”

Hill is unsure when she will race next. She will remain in Knoxville the remainder of this week as Parker Price-Miller drives a team car to hers in the 410 Knoxville Nationals. The following week she’ll travel to California to prepare for her first year of college, which begins on Aug. 21. She plans to return to racing on some weekends after school begins.
