Inside Line Promotions – SIX NATIONS, Ontario, Canada (May 9, 2017) – After taking a weekend off from racing to attend her senior prom, Alex Hill will be back on the track this week with four consecutive nights of racing scheduled in the nation’s heartland.
The 17-year-old will continue her quest for Rookie of the Year honors on the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour on Thursday with a visit to Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan. On Friday and Saturday she plans to compete in ASCS regional races at Humboldt Speedway in Humboldt, Kan., and at Springfield Raceway in Springfield, Mo., respectively. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the team will complete their racing week on Sunday night at Double X Speedway in California, Mo.
The four tracks on this week’s schedule will all mark first-time appearances for Hill, something she has become accustomed to this year while traveling with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.
“It’s not too bad,” said Hill, regarding the bevy of new tracks she’s challenged with on a regular basis. “Sam Hafertepe Jr. helps us a lot with information when we’re at the same track. He’s good friends with (crew chief) Daryl (Turford). It’s a big learning curve. But we’re getting to the point where we’re able to start focusing on some of the smaller things. It’s just a lot of learning.”
Hill enjoys the traveling associated with racing on the ASCS National Tour, even though it comes with a challenge.
“I like to travel, but it can be hard with school work,” she said. “I just got my report card last week and I had good grades in all of my subjects so I guess it’s going pretty well. I’m looking forward to when I graduate this summer and won’t have to worry about school work for a little while.”
