Inside Line Promotions – BROKEN ARROW, Okla. (May 3, 2016) – Johnny Herrera will return to 360ci sprint car competition this weekend.
“I’m just ready to race in general,” he said. “I’m ready to get back to the routine.”
Herrera competed in a handful of 410ci sprint car races throughout the month of April before he was rained out last weekend, which has him buzzing to get back to the track this Thursday at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., for the McCarthy Auto Group KC Klassic with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.
Herrera hasn’t raced at Lakeside Speedway since he recorded a 13th-place finish during a World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series event in June 2003.
He will then race on Saturday at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo., with the ASCS Red River Region and ASCS Warrior Region. Herrera was victorious at the track in 2013 and has registered at least two top-10 finishes there per season for the last four years.
“We’re going out for one thing and that’s to see if we can get the victory,” he said. “We feel confident going to both tracks that we can be in contention each night.”
In addition to the two races Herrera will participate in the Champion Oil 60th Anniversary Car Show on Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Champion Brands facility in Clinton, Mo.
“Not only can I race close to their headquarters, there’s a stop in the middle for the car show,” Herrera said. “They’ve been a big supporter of mine so this is a great opportunity for me to give something back.”
