Hagar Wins at Double X Following Top Five at Lake Ozark

Inside Line Promotions – CALIFORNIA, Mo. (July 26, 2017) – Derek Hagar capped a strong weekend by earning his sixth victory of the season last Sunday at Double X Speedway with the ASCS Warrior Region.

The night began with Hagar winning a heat race after lining up on the outside of the front row.

“We got a good pill draw to start the night and we took advantage,” he said. “I beat the polesitter into turn one and we won the heat. That put us as the high points driver.”

It locked Hagar into the feature redraw for the $3,000-to-win Clyde Wood Memorial A Main.

“I had my crew guy do the redraw for me and he pulled the No. 1 so he gets to keep his job this week,” Hagar joked.

Hagar took advantage of the pole position as he led the distance to garner his first career win at the bullring.

“It was a long feature,” he said. “We had a bunch of reds. We had a couple of hard charges from Zach Daum and Randy Martin that we had to hold off. Randy threw a slider on me in turn one on a restart. I crossed underneath him and took the lead back coming out of turn two. We did what we needed to do to stay out front and come home with the win.”

The weekend began on Saturday at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo., where Hagar powered from seventh to third place during an ASCS Warrior Region heat race. That earned a spot in the feature redraw, in which Hagar pulled the second-highest number – seven – to start the main event seventh.

“We got by a couple of cars on the start and then on restarts we could do some slide jobs,” he said. “As the race went on the car got worse. We were up to third and then Zach Daum got by us. It wasn’t our best outing, but we learned a couple of things we can do different the next time we race there.”

Hagar held on for a fourth-place finish.

He will return to action this Saturday at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, Miss., with the USCS Series.
