CONCORD, N.C. (April 18, 2024) Venturing out of northern Colorado, Bryan and Austyn Gossel will take on the American Sprint Car Series National Tour for the first time in 2024. The second father/son duo to attempt the National Tour in the same season, Tim and Landon Crawley were the first to do so in 2022.

“Kind of like living the dream. It is so cool to get to do this with Austyn and my family,” said Bryan Gossel of the chance to race on the road with his son. “Just to get here and be able to run at a national level, it’s a relief to see all the hard work and dedication is paying off.”

Gossel, who is a small business owner with BG Automotive in Colorado, were both on track this past weekend with the ASCS Western Plains Region at El Paso County Raceway. Bryan placed eighth, while Austyn, who started ninth, ran to a second-place finish.

This was a proud moment for Bryan, who has been racing for 31 years in dirt and pavement Sprint Car, as well as USAC Silver Crown action.

“He’s never just driven by me like that, so it was a pretty proud moment for me to see how much he’s improving and growing as a driver, which for me, I’m having fun, and that’s the goal for me, and for Austyn, to see that really what makes it even more fun for me,” Bryan said.

Behind the wheel of a Super Stock for the first time at 17, Austyn has raced a combination of wing and wingless Sprint Cars and RaceSaver and ASCS cars since 2019. Finding his footing in 2023, he captured his first career win at Casper Speedway on May 20 and followed that up with another victory at El Paso County Raceway on August 12.

“I’m going into this as confident as I can be,” stated Austyn, who has already been on track 17 times this season.

“Last year, we struggled at times running the local points deal with parts and mechanical failures, but I still had decent runs and won my first two races, which really got the ball rolling for me. This year, I’ve been able to work with Wayne Johnson and did all the 360cid and 410 stuff in Florida, then ran a couple of weeks ago in Texas, and that’s really helped, and I feel like that showed last weekend at El Paso.”
