Inside Line Promotions – McCOOL JUNCTION, Neb. (Sept. 15, 2015) – Jack Dover is one of the favorites entering this weekend’s Casey’s General Store Midwest Fall Brawl IV with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.
Dover claimed the $20,000 bonus for sweeping the doubleheader at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb., in 2013. This year he has won four out of eight races at the high-banked track and he has 11 feature wins there since the start of the 2011 season.
“My confidence is pretty high,” he said. “It’s a track close to home. We’re ran a lot of laps there and won a lot of races. Plus, we were working on the car last night and we found some issues that will help now that they are fixed. We found some stuff with the engine to make it better, too.”
Dover is coming off an up-and-down weekend in his home state, beginning last Friday with the FVP National Sprint League at Eagle Raceway in Eagle for the Nebraska Cup.
Dover qualified 13th quickest before he advanced from fifth to third place during a heat race. That lined him up on the outside of the sixth row for the main event.
“The track was fast and just too good,” he said. “I ran the top side where nobody else was in turns one and two the first couple of laps and we got around four of them. I was running eighth the whole race. With about seven laps to go I hit a hole in the middle of turns one and two and lost two spots.”
Dover ended the night with a 10th-place result, which was his best finish in a limited number of 410ci events this season.
Last weekend wrapped up on Saturday with the Carpetland Nebraska 360 Sprints at Junction Motor Speedway.
“We drew bad and just like the night before the track was way too good,” he said. “It was heavy and locked down.”
Dover advanced from seventh to sixth place in a heat race. That lined him up on the outside of the eighth row for the main event.
“We ran up to seventh or eighth so we moved up quite a way on a track that was really good,” he said. “That was a good thing. From the track being heavy and muddy I had mud built up in the wheels. It was vibrating the steering wheel in my hand so bad I just pulled off to be safe.”
Dover was credited with a 17th-place result.
