Inside Line Promotions – ELDON, Mo. (Sept. 3, 2019) – Roger Crockett posted his fifth podium finish of the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour season on Sunday to cap a three-race weekend.

“It’s really important to try to build momentum and try to be on the podium every night,” he said. “To start to put that together a little better makes you feel pretty good with what you’re working on.”

The weekend began on Friday at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa.

“We were in the top three or four cars in hot laps,” he said. “In the heat race I needed to win and we only got to second from third. The track was pretty fast and the passing was a little harder than we hoped. We started 11th in the main event and ran right around there. We got fouled up racing with some guys and got off the track. We restarted at the back and got a few cars back before the track took rubber.”

Crockett was credited with a 15th-place result.

He ventured to Lake Ozark Speedway on Saturday for the first night of a doubleheader. Crockett placed sixth in a heat race and second in a B Main before maneuvering from 20th to 12th in the main event.

“The track was extremely wet and very, very hard to pass because of all the rain,” he said. “We started last in the heat race and got one car. Our car felt good, but we had a tough heat and you couldn’t really pass. The track got a little better for the B Main and we were able to jump up there to transfer. We stayed out of trouble and were able to get to 12th in the feature. I was pretty discouraged drawing the back row to start the night so to salvage a 12th out of it was good.”

The improvement continued on Sunday as Crockett won a heat race from fourth and he powered from sixth to second in a qualifier. That gave him the most combined points out of any driver and garnered the pole position for the main event.

“The track was a lot more conducive for passing and our car was really, really good,” he said. “The worst we were was in the main event, unfortunately. Not that it was bad. They prepped the track and I was a little weary. I should have had it like I had it in the qualifier.”

Crockett ran second for most of the race before finishing in that position, which marked his third runner-up result of the season during ASCS National Tour competition. He remains sixth in the championship standings.

Crockett will return to action with the ASCS National Tour Sept. 19-21 at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo., during the Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial.

However, he has a dealership visit during the Route 66 Chevrolet in Tulsa, Okla., grand reopening on Sept. 14 beginning at 10 a.m.

“We’re excited to take the car and mule over there and support Route 66 Chevrolet like they have supported our team,” Crockett said. “It will be a great opportunity to chat with the Route 66 Chevrolet employees and customers. We’re really looking forward to it.”
