CG Motorsports- GLENPOOL, Ok. (April 5th, 2018) Matt Covington is ready to rebound this weekend at TMS after a disappointing outing at 81 Speedway during the Air Capital Shootout.
Covington made the show both nights but that was the extent of the success for the weekend.
“We had speed but no results to show for it,” stated Covington. “The first night we went from 5th to 2nd in the first heat. But we had some confusion on what heat we were in the second round. I thought I was in a later one. We ended up getting out there just as they dropped the green and managed to survive without a left rear shock. I even passed 3 cars. Then I started 15th in the A feature, and after spinning out at some point, we just parked it for the night. Saturday night we shot ourselves in the foot again and ran out of fuel during the heat race running 2nd. We were able to coast to the checkers for a 4th place finish. We only had enough points to start 14th in the feature. With the track being one lane in the rubber, we pulled off early and saved the car and tire bill in the main. The weekend results were very frustrating considering how fast the car was. We are capable of so much more as a team. But all we can do is forget last weekend, re-focus, and rebound for a solid finish with the National tour the next few nights at TMS.”
