Matt Covington Racing- Glenpool, Ok. (July 5th, 2023) Matt Covington heads to Dodge City Raceway Park after sub-par ASCS National results this past weekend at Boone County Raceway and Wakeeney Speedway.
Covington demonstrated speed and had good results early in the nights, but was then hampered by an off-balance racecar come feature time. Matt came home 6th both nights to earn a pair of top-10 finishes.
“It was a disappointing weekend for the goals we set and finishes we expect as a team,” stated Matt. “The car was fast and had speed early, but we had nothing to show for during the features. The biggest disappointment was starting up front on Friday, in a good position to win and then slowly fading during the race. We found a couple things on the car and parts we are going to change for this week and see if that will improve the balance and what we are fighting. Like I said before, this sport is humbling and you got to battle through the lows to enjoy the highs. There is lots of racing left this season and still all in front of us. My goal and team focus starting this weekend are just to run up front, go for the wins, get back the consistency, and not worry about the rest or points.”
Up next for Matt and the ASCS National Tour is a pair of race nights at Dodge City Raceway Park on Friday and Saturday for the Steve King Memorial. Saturday portion will be the third race of bigger purse series and pay $5,088 to the winner.
