Inside Line Promotions – LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (May 16, 2018) – Scott Bogucki will head into the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com Speedweek next month with a ton of confidence after producing solid results last week during a trio of series races.
“We made the A Main all three nights, got a heat race win and had a top-10 finish,” he said. “My pill draw skills suck so we will have to work on that, but we are putting our Maxim car back together and building our spare inventory back up and getting ready for Speedweek.”
Bogucki and the SawBlade.com backed team’s week started a week ago Wednesday at Humboldt Speedway in Humboldt, Kan., where he drew the No. 70 pill, which relegated him to starting last in his heat race. He passed three cars to end sixth, placing him 12th on the A Main starting grid. The track took rubber and Bogucki pulled in early to save equipment. He was credited with the 21st finishing position.
The next night Bogucki headed to Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan.
“I had one of Johnny Herrera’s crew draw my pill,” he said. “He got me the No. 5 and that put me on the pole of the heat and we got the win.”
Bogucki made the feature redraw thanks to the strong heat race performance. He pulled the No. 5 again to start the A Main on the inside of the third row. Bogucki got to third before falling back to fifth.
“I was coming forward again and we had a red,” he said. “I went to the bottom on the restart and the other guys up front found the rubber and I lost a few spots before I could move up. I was upset with myself because I think we had a top-three car.”
Bogucki closed the night with an eighth-place result.
The weekend concluded on Saturday at I-30 Speedway, which hosted a big field of cars.
“I drew the No. 70 again,” he said. “I’m done drawing. I’ll let anyone else pull the pill from now on. We started last again in the heat with a bunch of good guys on a track that was difficult to pass on. We managed a sixth-place finish, which put us starting third in the B Main. I finished fourth to make the A Main, but I had to start at the rear with a bunch of really good drivers in the same boat. I just pulled in to save equipment.”
The Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com resumes competition next month with its annual Speedweek, which features six races over nine nights. The opening round is June 8 at West Texas Raceway in Lubbock, Texas.
“We will probably put our 410 engine in and race with the IRA (Interstate Racing Association) and maybe head to Jackson (Motorplex in Jackson, Minnesota) in the near future,” he said. “We will be busy getting everything ready for Speedweek. We’re eighth in points and that stretch of racing could put you in great shape points-wise or kill you. We have another crew guy coming to help. Danny Heskins will join me and Dylan Poddock. That will allow all of us to get a little more sleep during that deal.”
