Inside Line Promotions – MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 30, 2017) – Seth Bergman posted his 20th top-five finish of the season last weekend to highlight a tripleheader in the Midsouth.
Bergman kicked off the busy weekend on Thursday at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark., where he advanced from seventh to fifth place during a Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour heat race. That earned enough points to garner the final lock-in position to the main event.
“We just missed the setup in the main event,” he said. “The track was pretty tricky to get a hold of and almost everyone was fighting for grip. We didn’t make the progress we wanted to, but it was a learning night for our team.”
Bergman, who ended 18th, returned to action on Friday when he made his debut at Crossville Speedway in Crossville, Tenn., with the ASCS Southern Outlaw Sprints. He powered from sixth to second place in a heat race to make the feature redraw. Unfortunately, he pulled the second-highest number – seven – to start the main event on the inside of the fourth row.
“The luck of the draw was not on our side that night,” he said. “I think it could have been a different story if we started on the front row, but starting in the fourth row it was really tough to get through there. We were able to make a couple of passes to end the night with a top five.”
Bergman finished fifth, which was his third top five in the last four races.
The weekend wrapped up on Saturday at Smoky Mountain Speedway with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour. Bergman finished where he started – fifth – in a heat race, which lined him up on the outside of the seventh row for the A Main.
“Passing was at a premium all night,” he said. “We took what we could get and worked our way into the top 10. It’s not the finish we wanted, but sometimes in racing the circumstances make it nearly impossible to achieve all of your goals.”
Bergman rallied from 14th to garner a ninth-place result – his 19th top 10 of the season during Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour competition.
Bergman enters this weekend’s Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour doubleheader on Friday and Saturday at Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn., ranked sixth in the championship standings – only 70 points out of third place.
