Inside Line Promotions – SEDALIA, Mo. (April 19, 2017) – Andee Beierle took a break from her college studies to get back behind the wheel of her 360ci winged sprint car last Saturday at Missouri State Fair Speedway during a Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour event.
“It was hard mentally knowing everyone else has been racing since February and it was my first time ever at Sedalia,” she said. “But everyone with ASCS is professional and very helpful.”
Beierle, who was making her first sprint car start of the season, and the BDS Motorsports team drew the pole position for a heat race.
“I only had three laps of hot laps on a track I’d never seen,” she said “I was a little too eager and jumped the start. That let everyone behind me know what I was going to do and on the second start they all drove around me.”
Beierle finished eighth in the heat race, which started her 24th in the feature. She advanced a half-dozen positions to earn an 18th-place finish.
“It just felt good to be back out there,” she said. “Honestly the first few races our goal is just to finish and get seat time. Right now it’s hard to be consistent when you’re not racing as much as all the other drivers. But I love challenges and I’m excited to be a part of this team. A lot of people don’t get this opportunity and I’m going to work hard to take advantage of what I’ve been given.”
Another aspect of the race night Beierle enjoyed was the team’s promotional setup.
“Over the Top Marketing had a special trailer set up with a show car and goodie bags for the kids and some for the adults filled with our sponsors’ products,” she said. “I love meeting the fans and helping to promote not only our team and sponsors, but the sport as well.”
Beierle, who is double majoring in aerospace and chemical engineering, is heading back to the books preparing for finals before her next race on May 11 at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.
“Once school is done for the semester I’ll be able to get to more racing,” she said. “We have around 25 to 30 races scheduled this year and I can’t wait to race and learn.”
