Bryan Hulbert – DRUMRIGHT, Okla. (February 4, 2022) Putting together a lineup that encompasses dates primarily through the Spring and Fall, the ASCS Southwest Region will see action in Arizona, California, and New Mexico during the 2022 season.
With the loss of tracks in the Phoenix area, the series has had to move around with events primarily at Cocopah Speedway (Somerton, Ariz.). Seven in total at the Arizona oval, the series will venture to Barona Speedway Park (Ramona, Cali.) on two occasions, as well as a pair of New Mexico weekends at Vado Speedway Park (Vado, N.M.) and Aztec Speedway (Aztec, N.M.). Making up four nights, the New Mexico stops will be challenge races against the POWRi Desert Winged Sprint Cars.
With the limited number of tracks in the southwest, dates between the two tours work around each other to where teams have 19 events to choose from. To make it even better, ASCS and POWRi Desert Winged Sprint Car officials have put up a $2,000 bonus if someone wins both championships in 2022. Both schedules are listed below.
For the 2022 season, the ASCS Southwest Region will be under the direction of Jason Carter. Teams can contact him at (480) 799-6770 or by email at jason.w.carter03@gmail.com. Carter was the voice at Canyon Speedway Park for four years before relocating to Chicago. Upon returning to the southwest, Jason was the voice of Arizona Speedway.
The 2022 season will mark the 31st year of competition for the American Sprint Car Series. Spearheaded by the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network, the ASCS Nation includes Regional Tours that encompass both wing and non-wing competition.
National Tour events are streamed live on http://www.floracing.com, with Regional Tour events on http://www.racindirt.com.
