TULSA, Okla. (May 18, 2017) The Lucas Oil ASCS Southern Outlaw Sprints returns to action this Saturday, May 20 with the season’s first trip to Southern Raceway in Milton, Fla. and the series’ ninth visit to the three-eighths mile oval.

A special night on the Southern Raceway calendar, Saturday’s showdown is Military Appreciation Night at the races. Anyone showing their Military ID, both retired and active, will be admitted free of charge into the grandstands. One year ago, Morgan Turpen etched her name into the pages of history as the only the second woman to win an ASCS sanctioned event.

Along with the Lucas Oil ASCS Southern Outlaw Sprints, the evening’s card will also include Bay Area Modifieds, Pure Stock, and NeSmith Street Stock.

Leading the way into the weekend is defending series champion, Michael Miller, who holds a 62 point advantage over Brian Bell with Lane Whittington trailing by 83 markers in third. Kyle Amerson fourth is 90 points removed from the lead with Nick Snyder making up the top-five.

In the eight previous visits to the Florida oval, Shane Morgan and Michal Miller make up half the overall wins. Todd Fayard picked up the inaugural victory in 2013. Terry Gray, Kyle Amerson, and Morgan Turpen make up the list of fellow winners.

Saturday, May 20 at Southern Raceway opens at 4:00 P.M. with racing at 7:00 P.M. Southern Raceway is located at 9359 Nichols Lake Rd. For more information, call (850) 623-2333 or log onto http://www.southernraceway.com
