Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (October 3, 2011) – The inaugural season of ASCS Southern California Region competition comes to a close this Saturday night when the series takes to the 1/3-mile Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, CA.
And, with five triumphs in seven ASCS SoCal events thus far in 2011, Tommy Tarlton has the top spot on the point charts locked up.
With an April 30 victory at Thunderbowl among his five series wins, Tarlton holds an insurmountable 412-point lead over Eric Humphries, with Cory Eliason, Mike Faria and Albert Pombo among the top five in points.
While Tarlton has captured five series wins, including the last three in a row, other wins have been claimed by Eliason and Bud Kaeding.
Tulare’s Thunderbowl Raceway is located off SR 99 to Exit 86, then 0.5 miles west on Bardsley Avenue to gate 14. For more information, contact the track at 559-688-0909.
The 2011 season marks the 20th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series, with approximately 200 nights of competition at tracks throughout the nation and into Canada. Anchored by the Lucas Oil Sprint Car Series presented by K&N Filters, ASCS also consists of ten different Regions throughout the nation.
