Bryan Hulbert – DRUMRIGHT, Okla. (April 18, 2023) Looking to get the 2023 season rolling this week, the American Sprint Car Series will head for a three-night run starting Thursday, April 20 through Saturday, April 22, in Mississippi, Arkansas, and Louisiana.
Each night paying $4,000 to win, $400 to start, the season will kick off Thursday at Jackson Motor Speedway in Byram, Miss., before heading to Texarkana 67 Speedway in Texarkana, Ark. on Friday. The weekend wraps up at Boothill Speedway in Greenwood, La. on Saturday. The weekend will also serve as the opener for the ASCS Mid-South Region.

The long-awaited return to the Mississippi oval, the ASCS National Tour, last saw action at Jackson on April 19, 1997, with Garry Lee Maier taking the win. The only other time the series passed through was August 12, 1995, with Terry Gray emerging victorious. The track has hosted the ASCS Mid-South Region numerous times since then, with the most recent regional event in 2021.

Rolling into Texarkana for the 11th time in 2022, the return to the Arkansas three-eighths-mile went the way of Derek Hagar. Under the stewardship of three-time ASCS National Champion Tim Crawley, the track was brought back from its demise by the racing legend, turned promoter, who owns three wins at the track in 1998, 2005, and 2009.

The site of one of the wildest races of the 2022 season, which saw Wayne Johnson become the fourth winner in just as many visits. Greeted by a packed house, it was safe to say fans were more than ready for the return of the American Sprint Car Series. Located just west of Shreveport, La., the track recently underwent an ownership change that saw Sabine Speedway promoter Bubba Jones and former Ark-La-Tex Speedway General Manager Ralo Pilkington taking over.
