The American Sprint Car Series National Tour’s August adventures bring the best 360 Sprint Car drivers in the country back to Kansas and Nebraska.
First, the National Tour will make its second stop of the year at Dodge City Raceway on Friday, Aug. 16. Then, it’ll return to Lincoln County Raceway for the first time since 1998 on Saturday, Aug. 17.
When the Series visited the state-of-the-art Dodge City dirt track in June, fans were treated to an epic showdown between two ASCS champions – Sam Hafertepe Jr. and Jason Martin. The two dueled wheel-to-wheel throughout the race with Hafertepe eventually coming out on top.
In five National Tour events at Dodge City Raceway Park, there’s yet to be a repeat winner. The Tour first visited the dirt track twice in 2005 and saw Gary Wright and Danny Jennings leave victorious. Then, after some time away from the track, the Series returned in 2023 with Martin and Matt Covington each scoring a win.
Covington will enter the August event with a win at Dodge City this year, having won with the Western Plains Region in July.
When the National Tour makes the trip to Nebraska, it’ll be the Series’ first stop in the “Cornhusker State” this year. Its sole visit to Lincoln County Raceway in 1998 was won by Terry Gray. Several ASCS regions have ventured to the track, most recently the ASCS Elite Great Plains Non-Wing Region. Terry Richards Jr. won the race and current Series competitor Austyn Gossel finished fourth.
