Inside Line Promotions – BRANDON, S.D. (Aug. 3, 2016) – Josh Baughman recorded two second-place finishes last week during Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour competition.

“We gave one away at Park Jefferson,” he said. “We got into lapped cars and Blake (Hahn) made a good pass on us.”

Baughman kicked off the action last Thursday at Park Jefferson International Speedway in Jefferson, S.D., where he maneuvered from eighth to fifth place in a heat race to make the feature redraw. He then pulled the No. 1 to start on the pole.

“I led most of the race, but I made the wrong move in traffic,” He said. “I thought I was going to go around a lapped car on the outside and Blake got under us on the inside. I bobbed when I should have weaved.”

Baughman ended second to continue the team’s momentum entering a National Sprint League event at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, on Saturday.

Baughman qualified 13th quickest and placed fifth in a heat race to lock into the 18th starting position for the main event. Unfortunately, he was involved in an early crash that resulted in a 23rd-place finish.

“The guy just drove through me,” he said. “He drove from the bottom of the track to the top. It was unfortunate because we had a top-10 car for sure.”

The weekend wrapped up on Sunday at Badlands Motor Speedway, where Baughman placed second in a heat race to rank 12th in overall points. That locked him into the 12th starting position for the main event.

“I felt like we had something for (Bryan) Clauson if the rubber didn’t come in,” he said. “We were getting around cars pretty good. Once we got to lapped traffic the rubber started coming in and it was follow the leader.”

Baughman rallied from 12th to end with a second-place finish, which marked his 10th top five of the season.

He will return to action this Thursday through Saturday at Knoxville Raceway for the 26th annual Arnold Motor Supply 360 Knoxville Nationals. Baughman has finished third and fifth, respectively, during two 360 starts at the half-mile oval this season.
