Carney Teams With Hulsey Motorsports For Lucas Oil ASCS Run At Cocopah Speedway

EL PASO, Texas (November 3, 2017) Looking to end his 2017 season on a high-note, John Carney II will make the trip to Cocopah Speedway in Somerton, Ariz. for a run at another Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour victory with El Paso’s Hulsey Motorsports on November 9, 10, and 11.

Claiming his third career victory during prelim action at the Devil’s Bowl Winter Nationals, the win was during the final weekend of Carney’s time with the Lubbock Wrecker Service team.

“Scott Brown and Terry Steward were great to race for. We won a lot of races and had fun doing it and the best part is we capped it off with another National Tour win,” commented Carney.

On the departure, John added, “I don’t want anyone to think that we ended on bad terms or anything like that. We had a list of goals we set out to accomplish together, and a time to get that done and for the most part, we checked most of that list off. They gave me equipment that was second to none, and I am very grateful for the opportunity. I have nothing but good things to say about the team.”

The three-night swing at the Cocopah Speedway will mark the second time that Carney has visited the Arizona oval. The first time in 2014 resulted in a 19th place finish.

“Now that I have more time behind the wheel of an ASCS style car, and a couple wins under my belt, I feel a lot more comfortable going into Cocopah. The first time, I was doing mainly RaceSaver racing. The track really reminds me of the old El Paso Speedway Park in how slick it gets, just a little bigger so you can carry more wing speed into the corners.”

Races at the Cocopah Speedway on November 9, 10, and 11 get underway each night at 7:30pm.
