Inside Line Promotions – GREENWOOD, Neb. (Oct. 3, 2017) – Seth Bergman earned his 15th podium finish of the season last Saturday at I-80 Speedway, where he posted a runner-up result during a Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour event.

The second-place finish was his best with the series since late June and it marked his fifth podium of the season with the ASCS National Tour.

“I thought we had a good night overall,” he said. “The struggles we’ve had lately have made us go to work on those areas. Now we’re starting to see the improvements on the things we’ve been working on. We feel good about the areas we executed on.”

Bergman kicked off the event by maneuvered from sixth to third place in his first heat race and from fifth to second place in his second heat. That ranked him fourth in overall points and lined him up on the outside of the second row for the main event.

“I knew we were decent and had a fast race car,” he said. “We had a good opportunity to have a good result and a chance at a win. From looking at the track I knew it’d take rubber. I wanted to get going and move around to find the part of the track other guys wouldn’t find. I got to third right away and went to the bottom looking and it allowed Thomas Kennedy to get by me. At that point I realized it was heading to one lane real quick. I jumped in line and drove back by Thomas for third. Tim (Kaeding) blew a tire so I got to second. With the rubber down it’d take (Sam Hafertepe Jr.) to screw up for us to pass him. I was in a good spot with a good result so I wanted to be smart.”

Bergman didn’t push the issue in the closing laps and held on for a second-place finish.

He is slated to compete this Friday and Saturday at El Paso County Raceway in Calhan, Colo., for the Colorado ASCS Fall Nationals with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.

Bergman enters the weekend ranked sixth in the championship standings – only 84 points out of the top five.

“I want to try to have another solid weekend with good results both nights and put ourselves in contention to win,” he said. “We have some confidence back. I want to continue working hard and finding speed that we need.”
