Carney Gathers Another Victory At West Texas Raceway

EL PASO, Texas (June 29, 2017) Picking up his third win of the 2017 season, John Carney II raced to the front of the line at West Texas Raceway in Lubbock this past Friday night in the Steward Builders No. 224.

“We tried something a little bit different with our bar and shock combination. We had a pretty good start and hit traffic just right so I think I was leading by about Lap 4. After that, it was just like taking the dog for a walk in the park. Just hit my marks and stayed out front.”

Taking the trip north to Amarillo’s Route 66 Motor Speedway the following night, John began picking his way through the field before having to drop to the tail after spinning to avoid getting wadded up. Before the checkered flag flew however, John had raced his way back to a fifth place finish.

“I made it to third, and the guy in front of me screwed up and I had to spin to keep from running him over. We made it back to fifth, but we were nowhere near the No. 74 in terms of speed.”

Keeping close to the shop this weekend, Carney will again be in the No. 224 for a two day affair at West Texas Raceway in Lubbock.
