Inside Line Promotions – BEAUMONT, Texas (Aug. 21, 2018) – Channin Tankersley soared to new heights last Saturday when he captured his fourth consecutive ASCS Gulf South Region feature victory.

It set a new standard for wins in a row for the Old School Racing competitor, who continued to build his lead in the championship standings with only a handful of races remaining.

“Any time you can win it’s good,” he said. “Four in a row is really cool because we’ve never done it. Just the fact that we’ve been strong every night is nice. We’re on point and have everything lined out. The few places we’ve raced we’ve been fairly decent.”

Saturday’s event at Golden Triangle Raceway Park began with Tankersley advancing from third to second place in a heat race.

“The track started out super fast,” he said. “It was really fast all night. We drew decent, but didn’t get going good at the start of the heat. Once we got going we were the same speed as the leader. He just got going a little better than we did.”

The performance earned Tankersley a spot into the feature redraw. He pulled the No. 6 to start the A Main on the outside of the third row.

“We didn’t get a good start,” he said. “The car was really tight, but a lot of it was the track. However, the longer the race went the better we got as we unloaded some fuel and got a little freer. We also made good decisions in traffic.”

Tankersley was running third with a handful of laps remaining.

“We got some traffic and we got through it really well,” he said. “We got around second and caught the leader. I showed him my nose a couple of times. He was running the top and I was on the bottom. He biked up and it was enough where I could get under him. If it wasn’t for a little luck I’m not sure we would have won it. He jumped the cushion on the last lap and it was just enough where I could get a run underneath him.”

Tankersley executed the last-lap pass to garner his fifth victory of the season.

He will take this weekend off before the next ASCS Gulf South Region races on Sept. 1-2 at South Texas Speedway in Corpus Christi, Texas.
