All three BDS cars make hard charges in Texas Motor Speedway A-main action

Dupo, IL (April 9, 2018) While high pill draws, tough heat races, and even a motor change caused set backs for the three BDS Motorsports drivers this past weekend, it wasn’t enough to keep the team from bouncing back in big ways during Tony Stewart’s Vankor Texas Sprint Car Nationals at Texas Motor Speedway. Each BDS driver faced his own issues during the weekend, but when it came time for the A-main each night, these guys put everything behind them, including several competitors as they moved forward from their tough starting positions. Here’s a breakdown for each driver:

Travis Rilat #1 – On Friday night, Travis was quickly moving forward in his heat race until a motor issue sent him to the pit area. The team thrashed to change motors, but unfortunately missed the B-main. Using a provisional starting spot, Travis lined up 23rd in the 25-lap A-main event. Not wasting any time, Travis made his way through traffic and improved to a solid 11th place finish. Saturday started out a little smoother, but a fourth-place heat race finish sent Travis to the B-main. Picking up a second-place finish in the B, Travis then lined up 17th in the A-main. Again moving through the field, Travis charged to a fourth-place finish, earning his first top five finish of the season and the Hard Charger Award for the night.

Robbie Price #21 – Robbie also passed a whole lot of cars during his weekend at the Texas Motor Speedway. On Friday night, Robbie started fifth and moved forward to a fourth-place finish in heat race action. Based on passing points, this put Robbie on the pole in one of the two B-main events. Picking up the B-main win, Robbie went on to start 18th in the 25-lap A-main. Determined to not let a bad starting position hold him back, Robbie drove his #21 Eagle Chassis forward to a great ninth-place finish. On Saturday night, Robbie would go fifth to fifth in his heat race, third to third in the B-main, and once again transfer to the 30-lap A-main. Starting deep in the field again, Robbie charged from 21st to another ninth-place finish, earning his second top ten finish of the weekend.

Skylar Gee #99 – Not to be out done by his teammates, Skylar also wheeled his #99 Eagle Chassis through traffic during the weekend. Friday night started with a tough pill draw. Starting sixth and finishing sixth in his heat race, Skylar found himself buried in B-main action. Unable to make the transfer, Skylar was forced to take a provisional into Friday night’s field. Starting 24th, Skylar would make the most of his 25-laps and move forward to a 16th place finish. On Saturday night, Skylar would go fourth to fourth in his heat race and first to first in the B-main, giving him an 18th place starting position in the 30-lap A-main event. Starting next to teammate Travis Rilat, Skylar would follow Travis through the field and earned a great sixth-place finish.

Although each night started with tough heat race runs and trips to the B-main, each BDS driver fought his way through traffic and towards the front of the field. With a little luck in the future and maybe some better starting positions, it won’t be long before one of these three racers finds his way to ASCS Victory Lane. Be sure to stay tuned to keep up with the team as they charge forward each and every night.
