Inside Line Promotions – FORT WORTH, Texas (Nov. 6, 2019) – Robbie Price wrapped up his 2019 racing season last week at the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track, which hosted the Tony Stewart presents the VANKOR Texas Sprint Car Nationals featuring the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.

The weekend was highlighted by a ninth-place finish in Thursday night’s opener. The doubleheader wrapped up Price’s rookie season on the tour and secured him eighth in the championship standings.

“It’s disappointing to not finish things better, but overall it was a good rookie season and we learned a lot,” he said. “It’s cool just to be doing this in a competitive series and I’m already looking forward to next season.”

Thursday night began with heat race action, in which Price started third and advanced one position to finish second. A seventh-place result in a qualifier relegated him to a B Main. He won the consolation race to transfer into the 18th starting position for the main event.

With the track transitioning to his liking after a few small car adjustments, Price rallied forward as high as seventh. A late restart cost the Cobble Hill, B.C., native two positions and he held on to finish the feature ninth. The top-10 result was the 18th of the season for him.

“We were rolling pretty good there in the feature and we felt really good out there,” he said. “That last restart I cost us a few spots, but the tires cooled off and I just didn’t get up to speed. But it was an excellent night.”

Only trailing seventh in the series standings by five points entering Saturday’s finale, Price hoped for a solid showing. He began the night starting fourth in a heat race and he lost one position to finish fifth. The result was good enough to advance to a qualifier, in which he started eighth and finished ninth.

As a result, Price had to run a B Main to try to qualify for the feature. He started sixth and gained one spot to finish fifth, but failed to advance to the A Main. He accepted a series provisional and lined up in the 23rd starting spot for the feature. Price pulled off early and was credited with finishing 25th. It secured an eighth-place result in the championship standings.

“We were just no good all night and we struggled from the get-go on Saturday,” he said. “In racing sometimes it’s not your night and I don’t think I can really pinpoint why except it was just one of those nights.

“There is a big difference between payout from seventh to eighth so overall it’s disappointing to not take advantage of the situation and do better. I’d have liked to have finish off 2019 stronger, but we gave it our best effort and we’ll be better going forward.”
