SawBlade.com Backed Bogucki Continues Hot Streak at Dirt Cup

Inside Line Promotions – ALGER, Wash. (June 27, 2019) – Scott Bogucki and his SawBlade.com sponsored team continued producing positive racing results last weekend during the 48th annual Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup at Skagit Speedway.

The Australian driver, coming off a weekend sweep of the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour events in South Dakota the previous week, scored a pair of top-10 finishes and nearly earned his third win of the season.

“We had a super good race car all weekend,” he said. “We passed a lot of cars and if I didn’t screw up while leading one night who knows. Our team has a lot of confidence right now.”

Bogucki’s weekend began last Thursday with a “bad pill draw.”

“We started at the rear of our heat and still passed some cars,” he said. “We were in a loaded qualifier and still managed a fifth-place finish, which put us up front of a B Main. We won that and because the car was so good I got to seventh in the feature then slipped out of the rubber late. But I was able to get the hard charger, coming from 18th to ninth in the feature.”

It looked like Bogucki was headed to Victory Lane the following night. After a fourth to first run in his heat race and a sixth to third charge in a qualifier, he was poised to take the feature win starting on the pole. Bogucki led the first 13 laps, but a slip up on the cushion was the end of his night.

“I gave that race away,” he said. “I was so good I was sort of cheating the curb and I got the right front over the cushion and it pulled me into the fence. I guess I got too cautious and was trying not to make a mistake and tried to ride for a while because the car was so good. It seems whenever I try to slow down a little like that I mess up. That won’t happen again.”

Bogucki did earn enough points the first pair of nights to lock himself into Saturday’s finale, in which he rolled off 13th for the $15,000-to-win main event.

“Once again the car was so good I was able to pass and move around and we ended up fifth,” he said. “I tried a move for fourth, but it didn’t stick. But it was another solid weekend and I have a lot to prove coming up.”

Bogucki sits fourth in the series standings heading into the Fred Brownfield Classic this Friday and Saturday at Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, Wash.

“We had a terrible weekend there last year; I wrecked,” he said. “Hopefully with the solid runs we’ve had and the way our team is clicking that won’t happen again.”
